Auctioneering

Well, I've decided to put some new ink work up for auction, so go get them while they're hot! Keeping the prices low to start with, so it's a good opportunity to invest in some original art without spending your salary.

Up and running

Well, I finished and delivered forty new little paintings to Salon 91 in Kloof Street about two weeks ago but we finally got round to hanging the little bastards yesterday, so go have a look if you're in Cape Town. They're well priced too, so it's a wicked little gift idea.

Also this past saturday my work went o display at the Climate/Gallery in New York, so fingers crossed that we can perpetuate that little avenue.

Well, here are some of the images, click the link above for the lot.

Silly Season

Hey everybody. I trust things will be winding down as the end of the year approaches once again, but not just yet. Crazy busy this side with a bunch of interesting projects and developments. I will have work showing at three different locations over the holiday season, I am wrapping up a ton of little paintings for Salon 91, my representative gallery in Cape Town, so if you’re in this neck of the woods, do swing by.
Some work is also on display at Off the Wall gallery in Paarl and that will hang until the end of January. Lastly, three of my ink drawings will be on display at the Climate Gallery in Queens, New York for a drawing exhibition during December, so if you happen to find yourself in the Big Apple, do swing by. I've attached one of the drawings below, it's a three-part set entitled Humourless Tumours.

Forward Movement

Well, here's the latest digital piece. Any advances I've managed to make in this medium owe a lot to the guys at Massive Black, they offer some serious help to those of us who are out in the sticks as far as production art is concerned. If you're interested in this kind of thing, check out their dvd section.

This drawing is a personal concept project that I hope to expand upon, there's a great big story behind this, but that'll be revealed in time. For now, hope you like the purdy (dark) picture.

Old Skool, New School.

Man, I've been a bit lax with the updating Been busy though, so not exactly lazy. Moving house and working hard.

At the moment it's a painting marathon, doing forty itty bitty little paintings for a show at Salon91 (in CT) this December. I have also (kinda sorta) completed illustration work on the short film Thanks Dad, mentioned in the post below. I will have more information regarding that as it is completed.

Some new work I'm posting is both digital and ink, as I've been messing around in both, so hopefully I'll have something COHERENT for you guys soon. In the meantime, hope you like!

New Adventures in Celluloid

Well, I'm not going to get all semantic with reference to the title of this post, but yes, they tend to shoot things in digital these days. Films i mean. Which is what i'm currently working on. I have produced a painting for the production of a short film shot in Cape Town titled Thanks Dad directed by Hein DeVos and written by Vicky Davis

I will also be providing images for the opening credits, but that is still in the process check and test, so nothing to show just yet.

But here are a the digital mockups and the finished product for the painting.

Cultivaria work

Hey guys. Well, my last exhibition which took place in Paarl two weeks ago has come and gone, so here's some of the work i did for that. Hope you like.

The self portrait I've posted before, but that was also included in the selection, so I'll post it again. Because I like it.

Dragging the Lake

Once again, not too much posting going on here, but that generally means I'm being too industrious to do so.

I have a bunch of paintings showing at Cultivaria festival this weekend in Paarl and those pics will be posted as soon as they come down. In the meantime i'm also breaking wicked new ground in the digital realm, but that's for a project still in development, so they'll come to light a bit later.

Here are a few sketches that have been accumulating in the meantime. I'll spare you guys the greater unloading, because there's a ton of shit. So for now it's just one or two.

Burst.

I have been getting agitated not painting as much as I'd like, so I tore into an unsuspecting sheet of canvas and now, an hour later, all I can think of is lunch. Not as irritated anymore, but looking forward to doing some more.

Here it is, hope you like.

We're Doomed!

Right, the breaking news over here is that this weekend, my work will be on show at Oppikoppi(BEEEG SA music festival up north, for all you foreigners). That’s if things go according to plan and Murphy isn’t doing the rounds, bastard that he is.

The Pretoria based super-avante band, Kidofdoom are looking to incorporate my work into their show. The details of the execution are thankfully not my barbecue, but I know the high standards these guys set for themselves, so they’ll no doubt do the business. And then some.

Thus for those of you who will be there, make sure you get your asses to the stage where they’re performing and let me know how it went down, yeah?

So let’s kick the tired and light them fires.

No School like the Old Skool.

Here are some of the inkier work I've been up to. I hope to do quite a bit more of this kind of work, so keep your eyes peeled.

Brave new something...

Well, I know things have been a tad quiet on the blog front, but that generally means thing are going nuts on the work side of things and this is indeed the case. But progressing well and about to start a new set of paintings for the Cultivaria festival in Paarl next month. Haven't had a committed set of exhibition work since I was in New Zealand earlier this year, so it'll be good to get back on that particular horse.
There are other rumblings on the music front, but more of that later, but the rest of the year looks to be a crazy time, so tag along and enjoy the ride!

Oh, these pics are ridiculously short scribbles in my new educational endeavour, getting to grips with the digital side of things, so wish me luck with that. Or at least let's hope I have time to knuckle down and sharpen up, cos this has loads of potential for growth like some dodgy employment ad.

Lurching into Motion

Well, it would seem that things are beginning to more forward, fits and starts be damned, movement is movement, so it's all the same to me. Here are a few bits and pieces from the sketchbook, I'll wait 'til the other come to fruition before dumping it on you guys...

Roll On.

Here are two more paintings I've done recently, I'm working on some biggish competition work and all sorts of other bits which I'm going to keep to myself for the time being, but there's always eoungh to go around, so I hope you like.

Good Nudes, People!

Well, as you guys may or may not know, I've taken it upon myself to go on bit of a painting binge this coming month to hopefully up my game and generate some turnover. Last Saturday I got off to a dismal start, made two pieces I'm happy with at all, but there were a combination of contributing factors. Anyhoo, the best remedy for that is to get back on the horse and see what happens next. So last night I started painting and only got to bed at three-thirty, but I'm more than chuffed with the results, one of which I'm posting here, so see for yourself.

These puppies are all for sale(unless otherwise specified)from here on in for the next months, so keep your eyes peeled.

Right, I'll get back to it!

Wet Feet

Anyone in the CT area kows how bastard cold it is at present, but sometimes this doesn't matter, I was about to put my boots on and saw an opportunity. So i'm still barefoot, but feeling vented after some furious painting. This painting took no more than thirty minutes. The faster the better.

Ker-SPLAT!

Well, I tore back into the paint on saturday and fell in love with it all over again. It's funny how I might spent a week working on something, but invariably the paintings I work on for less than an hour are so much better. Must be the energy that goes into it, but I feel like I might even be able to give Lucien Freud a run for his money at times like this. Or maybe Jenny Saville, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here... And please don't tell them that!
