Brushing Up
Here's my first stab at matte painting. Getting the hang of it, but the key here is integrating all the elements to look like one cohesive environment. Progress is being made, so watch this space!

Wet Paint
Here's a piece I'm working on right now, among other interesting things.
Also kicking off is the first round of Sydney Art Battles at Name This Bar. It's happening every thursday for the next two months, so swing by and check out the awesome mess we'll be making!
It should be my turn in a few weeks' time, but I'll post about that closer to the time. Here's the link in the meantime.

New Year's Resolution.
So here's my first work for the New Year. Last week I took a first stab at night painting, which is tricky, but I am intent on giving it a go and seeing how I may progress. We shall see... The painting below is of Balmoral beach, incidentally one of the most painted areas in Sydney, but don't get too hung up on that. I'll go in search of more obscure corners of the city soon enough.
The portrait is a commission I did for friends recently of their awesome kid and the last piece is a work in progress, which we'll see how that turns out.

Terra Australis
Well, the next episode is upon us!
I have arrived in Sydney after a few very interesting days in Malaysia and the process of setting up my work operation is now pretty much complete. Painting, ink and digital work is ready to go(and has begun!), so stay tuned and I'll keep you posted.
Pictured above is the last oil piece I did before leaving SA. The painting was a parting gift for (and of) my NSRI base (Station3) in Cape Town. They're a great bunch of people who incidentally pulled off a pretty intense rescue this week, so well done once again!
Hope you're all good and only the best for the festive season, stay safe out there!

So. Long.
And like that, they were gone.
We're off into the wild blue yonder, so the next communiqué will be from a significantly different neck of the woods. Hopefully this will be what we call a fruitful exercise.
The past two years in Cape Town have been very eventful and also very challenging. It's been tough saying goodbye, but I'm also looking at a clean slate and a brave new world to be explored over in Sydney. I'll be back in SA soon enough, but for now, there's a trail to be blazed!
Watch this space.

Outprocessing
Well, things are afoot in this Failed State as I approach my impending professional exile. I am packing up my life for a move to Sydney, which is both painful and hopeful, as a clean slate awaits me there. I'll elaborate on this at a later stage, but for now, it's the last round of goodbyes which will no doubt take their toll before the end, but as a wise man once said, This Too Shall Pass.
So let's leave our collective comfort zones and go find some interesting shit, because it's invariably there where you can't see it.
Yet
ps: In a last spurt of local fervor, I've been seeing some great nooks and crannies of Southern Africa, so take a look!
